Josie Harris-Walton is the Managing Partner of The Walton Firm and nationally recognized as “The TaxPros Attorney.” With over seventeen years of experience as a practicing attorney, she has built a distinguished career representing tax professionals and taxpayers in high-stakes civil and criminal tax matters, including IRS investigations, preparer penalty cases, and Electronic Return Originator (ERO) or tax professional sanctions.
Josie’s journey has included serving with several prominent law firms and leading the Tax Division of a national litigation firm before founding The Walton Firm, her greatest professional calling and passion. Guided by faith and perseverance, she transformed years of experience, late nights, and personal sacrifice into a firm built on excellence, purpose, and service.
Her practice focuses on IRS and DOJ criminal investigations, tax fraud defense, PPP and EIDL loan inquiries, employment tax prosecutions, and tax preparer due diligence compliance. A proud graduate of the University of West Alabama and Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law, Josie also earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from DePaul University College of Law. Her early experience includes an externship with the IRS Office of Chief Counseland serving as a senior tax advisor and partner of various law firms in the private sector.
Beyond her legal work, Josie is a dynamic speaker, educator, and advocate, frequently presenting on IRS criminal investigations, due diligence audits, and compliance strategies for tax professionals. Her mission is deeply personal and rooted in her own family’s legacy within the tax industry and driven by her calling to protect those who serve taxpayers.
